Holiday Rodent Invasion

Well Happy New Year to everyone! Another holiday season as come and gone and I hope all of you had as good of a holiday season as we did here at Home Star Lawn and Pest Control.  If you are like most, the holidays are a great time to spend with family and friends.  Many of us have family come to visit and spend time with us. If you are like me, it is always great to have them come and stay, but after a week or so, it is a little refreshing and peaceful when they head back home.  Unfortunately, I would like to talk a little about the holiday visitors that decide not to leave, rodents.  Here in Cooke County and most of North Texas, mother nature brought us a very exciting white Christmas.  With a white Christmas, comes cold weather.  When cold weather comes, rodents, like us, look for a warm place to stay.  That means they seek shelter in our homes. What most people do not realize is that all business’s and homes are susceptible to a rodent invasion.  Mice and rats do not care what type of home you live in.  Whether it be a manufactured home or a million dollar home in the nicest neighborhood in Denton, Texas, your home could be invaded by mice and rats.  It is very important that you do not let them invade your home for many reasons.  Rodents spread a variety of diseases, and they also can cause major structural damage.  Rodents are responsible for causing up to 15,000 home fires a year by chewing on wires in walls or attics.  They are also capable of causing major problems to the wiring system in your vehicles by chewing on the wires.  I have witnessed people that have suffered thousands of dollars of damage to their homes and vehicles by rodents.  The key to keeping your home safe from rodents is making sure your home is completely sealed up.  Mice and rats can enter your home through very small gaps.  Mice can enter homes through a gap as small as a dime and rats can enter homes through gaps as small as a quarter.  Also keep in mind that once these rodents enter your home and nothing is done, the population of these rodents grows at an extremely fast pace.  Therefore, the longer you let the problem go on, the more rodents you are going to have to contend with.  So be smart and protect your property.  Don’t let your home become a habitat for these destructive critters.  To learn more about how to keep rodents out and to learn more about what rodents can do to your home, go to our rodent control page on the site and learn more.  If you think you may have a rodent problem, call us.  We will gladly come to your home or business and give you a free consultation on what needs to be done to get these unwanted visitors, either out of your home or business, or do a preventive program so that they will never get in from the start.  Remember that exclusion is the key to success against rodents.

Changes

One of the many changes to our new website at Home Star that I am very excited about is the addition of our blog page.  This will allow me to talk about a variety of different issues that pertain to the lawn and pest industry as well as many other topics that may be affecting all of the communities throughout the north Texas area.  As of right now our service area includes most of north Texas.  The counties we presently service in north Texas are: Montague, Cooke, Grayson, Wise, Denton, Collin, Clay, Jack, Parker, Tarrant, and Dallas County. As you well know, living in north Texas, there is always going to be lawn and pest issues and at Home Star, we want to be the one to help answer any of your questions that you may have and help eliminate any of these issues.  I have found out over the years that the best way to keep lawn and pest issues from occurring is to have a preventative plan of action.  That’s why at Home Star we offer lawn care programs to make your yard look great year round and pest control programs to keep your home or business pest free year round.  I also understand that each individual customer is different.  What might be necessary for one customer, may be overkill for the next.  That’s why we like to evaluate each individual customer’s circumstances and come up with a plan that fits that customers needs.  At Home Star we will gladly come to your home or business and evaluate the situation, whether it be yard issues or pest issues, and come up with a plan to eliminate your problems.  Whether it be a weed problem, or a pest problem, we will solve it for you.  Our consultations are free and we will not try and force you into a contract that you do not want, like most companies do.  I treat my customers like I like to be treated.  So if you are in the north Texas area and have a question about your lawn or have a pest problem, we want to help.  Just simply go to the contact us tab or call me directly at (940) 736-3111, and we will gladly help give you a free estimate to fix any lawn and pest issues you have.  At Home Star, we guarantee you will be satisfied.
